Procedures: Earlobe Surgery

Earlobe SurgeryThere are a variety of deformities affecting the earlobes. Excessively large earlobes are a sign of aging and may be a source of embarrassment. Alternatively small shrunken ear lobes with loss of volume and creasing is also a sign of aging. Earrings get caught on clothing causing small to complete tears. The ear lobe may be deformed after a face lift, and sometimes the earlobe doesn’t separate from the side of the cheek during the birth process.

Earlobe Reduction

People may be self conscious about excessively large ear lobes. A variety of simple procedures, usually done under local anesthesia as an outpatient, are available for ear lobe reduction.

The two common types of earlobe reduction are a curved crescent excision of skin and fat involving the lower unwanted part of the earlobe, or a triangular wedge excision may be done.
